Our   Savior’s   Lutheran   Church   offers   a   variety   of   educational   formats   to   meet   the   needs   of   your   child.   Most   Sundays   and   Wednesdays   from September   through   May,   children   ages   three   to   8th   grade   can   be   found   everywhere   in   our   Sunday   School   wing   and   beyond!   Classes   are offered for preschoolers who are three years old by September 1st of that school year through 9th grade. Sunday School Sunday   School   is   offered   during   both   the   9:00   and   10:30   services.   Preschoolers   begin   the   morning   in   their   classroom.   Students   kindergarten through   8th   grade   start   the   Sunday   School   hour   off   with   the   congregation   in   the   “First   15”   minutes   of   worship   before   moving   to   their classrooms.               Preschool Our   preschool   teaching   teams   provide   a   caring   and   nurturing   environment   for   your   child.   Weekly lessons   create   an   engaging   and   active   learning   experience   so   that   little   ones   can   learn   about   their Christian   faith.   Watch   for   opportunities   to   join   your   child   in   Sunday   School   for   special   milestone events .          Elementary Students   in   kindergarten   through   4th   grade   participate   in   a   rotational   education   format.   Six stations   utilize   different   methods   to   engage   students   in   a   theme   or   Bible   point   using   mediums   like video,   art,   computers,   games,   music,   and   science/cooking!   Rotations   are   designed   to   run   3-5 weeks, offering a variety of unit topics throughout the year. Intermediate/Middle School Classes   for   5th   through   8th   graders   are   discussion-based   and   blend   biblical   teaching   with   real   life issues. Some classes are grade-specific while others are combined, depending on enrollment. Wednesday School Wednesday   School   offers   an   alternative   to   Sunday   School.   Students   in   K-8th   grade   meet   weekly on   Wednesdays   from   4—5   p.m.   Utilizing   a   large   group-small   group   format,   students   meet   together for the “First 15” minutes before dividing into small age-based groups. For additional events for kindergarten-8th graders, check out other opportunities to Grow .
Worship Children   are   welcome   in   worship   at   Our   Savior’s.   We   offer   Busy   Bags,   books,   and   activity   sheets   for   your   little   learners   to   use   during worship services.  Please see the display in the Atrium, located just outside the Sanctuary, or ask an usher for assistance. Nursery We   understand   that   sometimes   Mom   and   Dad   need   to   be   filled   with   the   Word   and   worship   without   the   distraction   of   a   little   one.      That   is why   we   provide   a   safe,   loving   environment   with   a   staffed   nursery   Sunday   mornings   and   Wednesday   evenings   during   the   program   year.      Our nursery is located by the North entrance and pagers are available for your peace of mind. Splash! Faith   formation   begins   in   the   home   and   our   Splash!   program   equips   parents   to   be   their   child’s   first   faith   teacher.   Tri-annual   mailings   come directly   to   you   and   include   parent   tips,   age-related   growth   and   faith   connecting   points,   and   music   and   age-appropriate   books. All   of   this   is designed   to   nurture   the   faith   of   our   little   ones   and   to   equip   parents   as   the   primary   faith   teacher   in   every   home.   If   your   child   is   0-   36 months of age and you would like to receive our Splash! mailings, contact Billie Jo Wicks
Confirmation   Sunday   marks   both   the   conclusion   of   an   intensive   two-year   study   program   as   well   as the   formal Affirmation   of   Baptism.   Weekly      Wednesday   classes   and   opportunities   to   worship,   learn, serve, and grow make up this faith-building experience. Students   who   desire   to   be   confirmed   are   typically   those   entering   8th   and   9th   grade.   Confirmands begin   a   two-year   course   that   includes   deeper   learning   about   the   10   Commandments,   The Apostles’ Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, and their connection to life as Lutheran Christians.  Classes   begin   every   fall,   and   are   weekly   on   Wednesday   evenings   from   7:15   –   8:15   p.m.   Students begin   together   with   a   large-group   lesson,   break   it   down   in   assigned   small   groups,   then   recap   and close with prayer as a large group. Fulfilling   the   Confirmation   Covenant   includes   components   that   connect   with   all   five   ministry areas,   giving   students   not   only   the   depth   of   understanding   of   life   as   a   Lutheran   Christian   but   also   a   glimpse   of   what   it’s   like   to   be   an   active member   of   our   church.   Confirmation   classes   conclude   with   the   Rite   of   Confirmation   service   held   on   the   last   Sunday   of April   each   year.   For more details about Confirmation classes, contact Marcia Pedersen  or by calling the church at 437-4516
Recharge      meets      from      7:15-   8:15      p.m.      weekly      on      Wednesday      evenings      in      the      Youth     Room.      This   is   an   opportunity   for   high   school   students   to   gather,   connect   with   each   other, laugh, serve, play games, and learn how their own desires connect with God’s desires for them.
We   offer   various   Bible   and   book   studies   where   we   connect   in   order   to   discuss   our   faith,   questions,   and   doubts. All   ages   high   school   and   up are welcome. For the most current schedule of study groups, check out our calendar or contact Karen Behling Our more regular studies include: Wednesday evening Bible study Friday morning Bible study Thursday evening book study at a local restaurant Women’s monthly Bible studies at various times Spirituality Untapped (Where Faith is Shaken and Stirred) This   collaboration   ministry   with   St.   Olaf   Lutheran   Church   meets   from   6:00-7:30   pm   the   third   Thursday   of   each   month   at   Torge's   Live   Sports Pub   &   Grill.   Questions   of   faith   are   asked   and   pondered   over   beverages   of   your   choice.   Discussions   have   included   the   relationship   of   doubt and faith, religion and science, and faith and the Bible. Wednesday evening Bible study Would   you   find   worship   more   meaningful   if   you   had   time   to   ponder   the   sermon   text   in   advance? That’s   exactly   what   this   group   does,   as   the preaching   pastor   invites   conversation   about   the   upcoming   lesson(s)   for   worship.   Each   week   is   a   standalone   study   so   come   whenever   you can.  No preparation is required - we even provide the Bibles. Join us in the Conference Room from 5:45-6:45 p.m. most Wednesdays.   Friday morning Bible study “What catches your attention?” “What surprises you or challenges you?” “What questions get stirred up for you?” These   are   the   sorts   of   questions   we   ask,   as   we   read   through   one   of   the   books   of   the   Bible.   We   are   more   interested   in   wrestling   with   the questions   than   declaring   definitive   answers   as   we   consider   connections   between   our   biblical   ancestors   and   our   own   lives   in   today’s   world.     This group meets most Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon at the church. Thursday evening book study at a local restaurant This   is   the   most   diverse   small   group   we   offer,   as   adults   and   teens   gather   weekly   for   4-6   weeks   to   discuss   a   current   book   in   the   religious world.      The   conversation   can   get   lively,   and   rarely   do   all   agree,   but   there   is   always   a   commitment   to   speak   and   listen   in   an   atmosphere   of respect   for   the   diversity   of   who   we   are   as   God’s   people.   Previous   studies   include   Love   Wins   by   Rob   Bell,   Pastrix   by   Nadia   Bolz-Weber,   and Inventing Hell by Jon Sweeney. Women of the ELCA’s (WELCA) monthly Bible studies Each   WELCA   Circle   gathers   monthly   for   Bible   study,   fellowship,   support   and   service.   Deep   friendships   develop   as   these   circles   of   women grow   in   faith   together.      Meeting   time   options   include   morning,   afternoon,   and   evening.   Call   the   church   office   or   contact   Karen   Behling    to find a group that works with your schedule.
We   are   committed   to   equipping   God’s   people   to   open      their   Bibles   and   join   in   conversation   as   we   learn      together   what   it   means   to   live   in faithful   service.      The   Bible   is   our   “Book   of   Faith”   that   both      comforts   and   challenges   us   as   we   live   in   relationship      with   God,   with   one another,   and   with   all   of   creation.   Here   you   will   find   information   about   learning   opportunities   for   people   of   all   ages.   For   specific   dates,   check the Children, Youth, and Family calendar here .
